Many patients are curious why our front requests a copy of your insurance card at your visit. While it may seem like a nuisance, accurate information is critical if you expect your insurance to process and reimburse for services rendered.
Once annually, we ask for a copy of your insurance card (s). This is to ensure that the information we have is correct, and that your plan is current and one in which we participate. Out of date cards with incorrect information or the wrong insurance card can cause unnecessary delays in the payment of your claim and the balance may ultimately become your full financial responsibility. While small changes (like a group number change or plan change) may not be considered a significant change by patients, insurers will NOT process claims that are not 100% accurate.
